If you include more than one word in your search, the default
search mode will return records that contain all of your search
terms, in any order, and not necessarily next to each other. Example:
if you enter Francisco Goya Paintings,
you'll get records that contain the words "Paintings", "Goya", and
"Francisco".
To search for a multi word term, use the exact phrase
search in the advanced search tool. Example: if you do an exact phrase search for
Los Angeles you'll get records that contain the word
"Los" followed directly by the word "Angeles".
Use an asterisk (*) as a wild card at the end of a word or
string of letters to broaden your search results. Example: if you enter cat*, you'll
retrieve records with
Catskills, cattails, catch, etc.
