DescriptionDr. Mark Lipsey, a leader of the field of evaluation, talks about evidence-based practice and its relation to evaluation. Evidenced-based social science theories are often helpful for understanding the etiology of desired or undesired outcomes and for developing intervention strategies for influencing those outcomes. In his presentation Dr. Lipsey looks for evidence that evidence-based practice in fact is effective and speaks of generalizability of evidence practice concept. He discusses implications depending on what a practice concept is and how much research is going to be available on which to base any kind of guidelines, how contingent that research is going to be in terms of its results, what the practice guidelines are to follow, what the domain generalizations are going to be after practicing those guidelines.
