| Description | In this talk Dr June Tangney (George Mason University) will relate her findings regarding questions such as how do we reduce recidivism after release from prison and how do we discourage substance abuse and HIV risk behavior among one of the most underserved groups in America—the criminal offenders returning to the outside world? Beginning with a thorough study of shame, guilt, and empathy, Dr. June Tangney has begun addressing these questions. Her ten-year project funded by NIDA will assemble and evaluate the most efficacious short-term interventions. The end goal is to learn how we can improve the stability, self-sufficiency, and productivity of this population. |
