DescriptionDale E. Berger of Claremont Graduate University gives a symposium presentation focusing on preparing for careers where one can apply the science of psychology in non-academic settings. Berger's main thesis is that there are many new and upcoming career choices where individuals with a background in psychology are the best choices. In this presentation, Berger presents biographical information of various applied psychologists, obtained through interviews. The backgrounds of the persons represented in this presentation include developmental, social, organizational, and cognitive areas of psychology. Berger additionally provides insight and advice, from personal experience and culled from his interviews, on how best to prepare for a career in applied psychology.
