Historiated initial "I " with miniature scene of Christ preaching to his disciples , while in the left background is a cutaway scene of a house with a woman who has just given birth lying in bed while two other women wash the newborn infant [in reference to the gospel for the day , John 16:16-22] . Illuminated border of brushed gold with flowers , berries , insects , a caterpillar , and a peacock .
