Description
Karen
Torjesen
invites
the
conference
panelists
to
speak
about
their
experiences
in the
conference
discussion
groups
.
Hamid
Mavani
talks
about
the
academic
study
of
religion
by
both
practitioners
and
non-practitioners
and the
insights
both
bring
to the
study
and also the
use
of
inclusive
language
.
Althea
Spencer
Miller
was
struck
by the
enthusiasm
and
respect
of the
participants
for
all
traditions
represented
. She
says
one
of the
questions
that
came
up
in her
group
was how
individuals
can
engage
in
discussion
across
traditions
and
still
maintain
what they
consider
important
and
valuable
in their
own
traditions
.
Torjesen
comments
that
since
there were
no
participants
from the
Hindu
tradition
present
at the
conference
, the
discussion
of
Hinduism
was
limited
. For that
reason
,
Deepak
Shimkhada
uses
the
time
here to
discuss
the
topic
of
inclusivity
and
exclusivity
as
it
relates
to
Hinduism
.
Dr
.
Ali
Jaffrey
, a
Zoroastrian
scholar
,
speaks
on the
Zoroastrian
tradition
and its
encounter
with
other
religions
.
Tammi
Schneider
talks
about
the
significance
of the
Holocaust
in the
inclusivity/exclusivity
problem
and what should be
done
now
that
it
has
happened
.
Lastly
,
Robert
Rees
talks
about
the
New
Testament
,
Hebrew
Bible
and the
Book
of
Mormon
.
