In the 1924, Friml achieved his greatest popularity with the operetta (musical) Rose Marie, book and lyrics by Harbach and Oscar Hammerstein II, music also by Herbert Stothart. It is best remembered for the song “Indian Love Call", quoted in the autograph on this portrait. It is also interesting to note that Bessie Bartlett Frankel visited many of the home cities of European-born musicians whom she supported or helped sponsor during their concert performances in Los Angeles; see also the post cards in this collection.
