Description |
Loyalist mural, Spier's Place, Shankill Road, West Belfast, 2002. Above the main mural, the emblem of the Young Citizen Volunteers, an anti-Home Rule organisation formed immediately prior to the to the signing of the Solemn League and Covenant (Ulster), in Belfast City Hall, 1912. The main mural is unusual amongst Loyalist representations in that it depicts a woman - here in the form of Ulster, deserted by Britain in 1914, though flying the Union Jack, but prepared to defend herself with arms. 'Deserted! Well - I can stand alone.' |
