Prof. Keri Walsh, Department of Literature, CMC
Prof. Walsh will discuss Beach’s life and career as the proprietor of the Shakespeare and Company bookstore in Paris between 1919 and the Second World War. She will read from her new collection of Beach’s letters and discuss Beach’s relationships with James Joyce, Ernest Hemingway, Gertrude Stein and others as well as doing a brief visual presentation of images from Beach’s life in expatriate Paris.

Philbrick Library Collection of Theater Letters
The Philbrick Library Collection is housed in Honnold/Mudd Special Collections, and in-cludes 2,000 pieces of correspondence and printed ephemera by well-known individuals associated with the theater. So far, the ongoing digitization project by the CCDL (Claremont Colleges Digital Library) includes letters from the Keans, Sarah Siddons, and Henry Irving, among others.

This year, CMC’s senior thesis program required its students to submit electronic copies of their theses to preserve and provide access to the scholarship of graduating seniors. The Claremont Colleges Library has collaborated with the CMC Registrar’s Office to create an online showcase for the CMC seniors and to make the submission process as simple as possible.
