fair-haired
young
woman
dressed
in the
maroon
and
white
of the
University
of
Chicago
. She
leans
against
a
Renaissance-revival
fountain
pedestal
and
is
surrounded
by
trees
and
pastel-colored
flowers
.
University
of
Chicago
buildings
are in the
distance
and the
bottom
of the
plate
reads
: "
Chicago.
" She
wears
a
long
maroon
velvet
dress
. The
yoke
is
of
white
dots
above
a
low
scoop
neck
trimmed
with
many
maroon
bows
. The
high
neck
is
made
of
black
and
maroon
ribbons
. The
bodice
is
full
above
the
waist
in the '
pouter
pigeon
'
silhouette
with a
bow
or
flower
at the
center
front
of the
waist
. The
long
sleeves
are
narrow
but not
tight
. The
skirt
is
flared
and has a
double
band
of
piping
above
the
hem.The
young
woman
holds
up
her
skirt
revealing
white
lace
petticoats
underneath
,
maroon
stockings
and
black
patent
leather
heeled
shoes
. To
complete
the
outfit
she
wears
tan
gloves
and a
maroon-feathered
hat
. The
university
is
identified
in the
background
with the
large
letters
"
C
" and "
H
"
which
form
part
of the
garden
design
.
