Description
This
plate
shows
a
woman
standing
in a
three-quarter
pose
,
facing
the
viewer
, her
eyes
looking
directly
at us. She
models
a
long
green
dress
. The
bodice
has a
round
jewel
neckline
and a
yoke
of
pale
green
and
white
floral
pattern
which
extends
across
into the
upper
sleeves
.
Both
the
front
and
back
of the
yoke
end
in a
gentle
curve
.
Below
the
yoke
, the
lower
bodice
and the
elbow
length
sleeves
are of
pale
green
in
eight
medium
horizontal
pleats
. A
softly
pleated
sash
runs
diagonally
across
her
chest
from
bust
to
waist
. The
waist
and the
narrow
ruffles
at the
elbows
are of the
floral
pattern
. The
skirt
fits
smoothly
to the
hips
, and
below
the
hips
flares
out
into a
trumpet
shape
of
twenty-one
horizontal
pleats
. At the
back
is
a
very
long
plain
green
sash
with
pointed
ends
which
reaches
almost
to the
hem
. At the
right
is
a
smaller
,
black
and
white
back
view
of the
gown
. The
woman
has
up-swept
brown
hair
and
wears
a
black
hat
with
black
feather
plumes
. She
holds
an
open
pale
green
parasol
with a
wide
ruffled
hem
trimmed
with
floral
ruching
. She
wears
a
choker
of
three
strands
of
pearls
and
wears
long
white
gloves
.
Behind
her
is
a
black
and
white
illustration
of
branches
of
flowering
magnolia
.
