A
woman
is
depicted
inside
her
house
,
leaning
out
the
window
to
visit
with a
passing
woman
and
child
. The
woman
in the
window
wears
multicolored
striped
ribbons
and
white
flowers
on her
lace
cap
. Her
dress
is
gray
with
long
bell
sleeves
.
Over
her
dress
she
wears
a
black
velvet
jacket
with
scallop
edged
v-neck
and
long
bell
sleeves
,
trimmed
with
black
lace
. She
wears
bracelets
on
both
wrists
. She
hands
the
little
girl
a
bunch
of
grapes
. The
little
girl
wears
her
hair
in
two
braided
buns
,
covering
each
ear
,
accented
with
blue
ribbon
. Her
dress
is
light
blue
,
off
the
shoulder
, with
three-quarter
length
sleeves
and
ends
just
at her
knees
. The
bodice
is
edged
in
narrow
ruched
ruffles
and the
skirt
has
four
horizontal
rows
of
ruffles
.
Under
the
blue
dress
, she
wears
a
white
undergarment
with a
high
neck
and
long
sleeves
. She
wears
gray
ankle
boots
with
buttons
on the
side
. Her
mother
wears
a
lavender
bonnet
with
scalloped
edges
,
trimmed
with
ruffles
,
leaves
,
flowers
, and
lace
, and she
carries
a
white
parasol
in her
left
hand
. Her
dress
is
light
orangy
tan
with a
jewel
neckline
and
long
bell
sleeves
. The
jacket
is
edged
with
black
ribbons
on the
sleeves
,
bodice
, and
hem
. The
skirt
has
multiple
horizontal
rows
of
black
trim
progressively
getting
wider
down
the
skirt
. The
jacket
is
trimmed
with
bars
of
ribbon
across
two
slashes
on
each
sleeve
, and
down
the
center
front
, with
ribbon
rosettes
with
hanging
ends
on
each
sleeve
. The
overall
effect
is
that the
outfit
was
historically
inspired
by the
look
of
seventeenth
century
costume
. She also
wears
multiple
bracelets
and
yellow
gloves.There
is
a
basket
full
of
flowers
resting
on the
ledge
under
the
window
.
