begins
by
explaining
that this
book
is
part
of her
Eve
Diamond
crime
novel
series
. The
book’s
plot
follows
“Los
Angeles
Times”
reporter
Eve
Diamond
as she
investigates
the
murder
of
fifteen-year-old
Isabel
who
came
from an
affluent
family
in
Pasadena
only
to be
found
dead
in a
squat
house
in
East
Hollywood
. In the
book
Hamilton
explores
the
world
of
runaways
and the
more
privileged
youth
who
choose
to
associate
with them. She
goes
on to
share
that she was
struck
by the
idea
for the
novel
while
reporting
on a
trial
that
involved
a
girl
who
was
murdered
by her
homeless
boyfriend
.
Later
in this
interview
Hamilton
shares
some
of the
research
that she
conducted
for the
book
that
involved
interviewing
psychologists
who
had
first
hand
experience
working
with
homeless
youth
. Also,
Hamilton
discusses
her
first
novel
,
“The
Jasmine
Trade”
and
why
she
chooses
to
write
about
teenagers
.
