Description
Amos
Oz
discusses
his
book
,
“The
Same
Sea.”
He
explains
that the
novel
contains
several
characters
whose
lives
are
intertwined
. The
plot
is
set
in
Israel
and
follows
the
character
Albert
, an
accountant
whose
wife
Nadia
has
died
.
Albert’s
son
Ricco
is
haunted
by his
mother’s
memory
,
which
he
attempts
to
out
run
by
exiling
himself
to
Tibet
.
Meanwhile
,
Ricco’s
girlfriend
,
Dita
moves
in with
Albert
who
begins
to
lust
after
her.
Oz
discusses
how
all
of the
characters
break
down
emotional
and
societal
boundaries
in their
quest
for
peace
and
love
. He
goes
on to
explain
that
each
character
has their
own
narrative
,
which
they
gradually
unfold
for the
reader
. As they
each
strive
for
serenity
and
redemption
,
familial
ties
and
bonds
are
broken
and
lives
that were
once
separate
begin
to
intersect
.
