Mel Torme discusses his autobiography, “It Wasn’t All Velvet.” He elaborates on his multi-faceted career as a composer, lyricist, conductor, musician, actor, and more. He explains what a work day for him usually consists of and what projects he is currently working on. Torme also shares his memories of legends such as, Sammy Davis, Jr., Duke Ellington, Judy Garland, Jerry Lewis, and Frank Sinatra. He goes on to discuss his various relationships with women ranging from Ava Gardner to Marilyn Monroe. In addition, he shares several of his earlier memories of growing up in Chicago, and the effect his early stardom had on his childhood. |
