GRAPOW, HERMANN (1885-1967), German Egyptologist. He was a pupil of Adolf Erman and Georg Steindorff, a collaborator with Erman in the Ägyptisches Wörterbuch, and successor of K. Sethe at Berlin University. He worked also on ancient Egyptian medicine and medical texts. His interest in Coptic led to Vom Hieroglyphisch-Demotischen zum Koptischen (Berlin, 1938) and "Untersuchungen über Stil und Sprache des koptischen Kambysesromans" (Zeitschrift für ägyptische Sprache und Altertumskunde 74, 1938, pp. 55-68).
