BALESTRI, GIUSEPPE (1866-1940), Italian Coptologist and a member of the Augustinian order. He is best known for his publication of the Sahidic folios of the New Testament presently in the Borgia Museum (Sacrorum Bibliorum Fragmenta Copto-Sahidica Musei Borgiani, Vol. 3, Novum Testamentum, Rome, 1904). With H. Hyvernat he also edited the acts of the Coptic martyrs, Acta Martyrum 1-2 (Paris, 1907-1924; repr., Louvain, 1953, 1961).
