TISSERANT, EUGENE (1884-1972), French clergyman and Orientalist. He was a cardinal and member of the Institut de France. He was scriptor orientalis and then proprefect of the Vatican Library (1908-1936). He helped prepare his own bibliography: "Bibliographie de son Eminence le Cardinal Eugène Tisserant (1907-1964)" (with P. Hennequin, Mélanges Eug. Tisserant, Vol. 1, Vatican City, 1964, pp. 7-18).
