TILL, WALTER CURT FRANZ THEODOR KARL ALOIS (1894-1963), Austrian Coptologist. He became a lecturer in Egyptology at the University of Vienna in 1928. He was professor at Vienna (1939-1945) and in charge of papyri in the Austrian National Library (1931-1951). He was senior lecturer in Coptic at the University of Manchester (1951-1959). Till wrote an excellent Sahidic grammar and a number of studies relating to the biblical prophets and stories of the saints. A list of his works may be found in A Coptic Bibliography (Kammerer, 1950, 1969).
