(CE:2144b)
SOUROS (fourth century), with Pshentaese and Pshoi, one of the first three disciples of PACHOMIUS. He also appears in various lists of the "ancient brothers" who seem to have constituted a very clearly defined group within the organization of the koinonia. Pachomius appointed him father of Phnoum, in the south, the last Pachomian foundation. Like so many other ancient brothers, he died during the plague of 346. He was the recipient of Pachomius' first, fourth, and sixth letters. With Cornelius he was one of the two persons with whom Pachomius exchanged letters in code.
