PALANQUE,(HENRI AMEDÉE) CHARLES (1865-1909), French Egyptologist. He was born at Auch and studied at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes (Paris). He was attached to the Institut français d'Archéologie orientale in Cairo from November 1900 to November 1902, during which time he excavated Coptic ruins near Abu Rawash at Bawit and at Asyut. On his return to France, he became an archivist at Auch.
