MUWAFFAQ AL-DIN ABU SHAKIR IBN ABI SULAYMAN DAWUD (d. 1216), a skilled physician, one of three brothers, the other two being ABU AL-FADL IBN ABI SULAYMAN and Abu Sa‘id ibn Abi Sulayman. From the latter, Abu Shakir learned his medical skills. The sultan al- Malik al-‘Adil (1200-1218) appointed him to the service of his son al-Malik al-Kamil.
