(CE:1370b-1371a)
JOSEPH, secretary of Apa SHENUTE (feast day: 30 Tut). This saint is not in the SYNAXARION of the Copts, but he was celebrated at the monastery of Apa Shenute in Akhmim, as the typika (liturgical manuals) coming from this monastery witness. He is also mentioned in the Life of Shenute in Coptic and Arabic versions (CSCO 129, pp. 32-33).
We know nothing about this person. It is possible that he was also a doctor (according to the Arabic version of the Life of Shenute, where he is called al-Hakim, a term that in the Middle Ages signified a doctor).
