Description	Faubion Bowers was born January 29th, 1917 and graduated from Columbia University ('35) and Juilliard Graduate School ('39) and continued to teach at Hosei University in Tokyo. As one of General MacArthur's official aides and interpretors, he discusses his experience in post-WWII Japan. Bowers describes the absolute destruction and poverty upon arriving in Japan. Commenting on the Japanese's acceptance of defeat, Bowers is quick to acknowledge the Allied arrogance, especially focusing on the disinterested attitude of General MacArthur throughout the occupation.
