Notes
Bishop-Johnstone, who died in Los Angeles in 1923, was frequently identified in news columns of that era as "a prime mover" at music concerts and festivals in southern California. Her repertoire ranged from works by Handel to David Kalakaua, the last reigning King of Hawai'i, who dedicated a composition to her.
