Description |
Steven Kotler discusses his book, “West of Jesus.” He begins by sharing the story of his struggle with Lyme disease and its effect on him spiritually, emotionally, and physically. Kotler explains how it was this struggle that led him to take up surfing, which forever changed his life. In “West of Jesus” Kotler sets out to discover the origins of a surf legend that concerns a surfer called “the conductor.” It is said that this legendary surfer can control the weather by using a human bone. Kotler goes on to explain how the book seeks to explore how surfing is unique in the sense of the spiritual fulfillment that it instills its followers. In so doing, he analyzes origins of belief and travels across the globe. |
