Description |
Steve Shagan discusses his novel, “The Discovery.” He begins by explaining that his book is about two archaeologists who fall through a desert hole in Syria and find hidden temples. He talks about how this is a true story of how two archaeologists and they found over 22 thousand tablets written in ancient cuneiform which gave information on the politics, economy, military, commodities, and arts of the Ebla society. He explores the prophecies on the tablets at Ebla about the judgment of Moses and the connection to the Hebrew Bible. He describes the similarities between journalism and fiction writing, and says that characters are the most important part of any story. He talks about how museums sometimes illegally purchase artifacts and keep them in the back storage rooms. He ends the interview by discussing his own religious beliefs and how he incorporated them into the book. |
