YUHANNIS IBN BUQTUR AL-DIMYATI, a Melchite from Damietta who became a monk at the monastery of Sinai in the year A.H. 374/A.D. 984/985. He subsequently became a priest.
In 995, he copied a gospel book for the feasts of the year, in two columns, Greek and Arabic. His Arabic handwriting, halfway between kufi and naskhi script, is very clear. His orthography and grammar leave something to be desired. His Greek hand is entirely in capitals, rather angular, but cultivated. A reproduction of folios 1v-2r may be found in figure 17 of Atiya and Youssef (1970, p. 228).
