headquarters
. As a
junior
officer
he was
assigned
to the
drafting
of the
Japanese
constitutions
.
Poole
discusses
the
excitement
and
obstacles
of
drafting
the
constitution
within
only
one
week
.
Poole
,
along
with
one
other
officer
, was
put
in
charge
of the
provisions
dealing
with the
emperor
.
Together
they
needed
to
redefine
the
role
of the
emperor
in the
constitution
so
that he
remained
significant
yet
not
too
powerful
.
