Nobody has written a minute account of the evolution of the Japanese Theatre, and most likely for a very good reason. No records of the exact periods of origin or transition seem to have been kept. One simply flounders about in a quagmire of tradition. I have looked up the article on 'The stase scenes of the Moronobar Hishikawa' without any material result. It is simply an appreciation of the work of a Japanese artist who died circa 1695 & who was noteworthy for his views of theatrical interiors,
