I know you have some opinion
of my gift of distinguishing Orginals from Copies
I could not refrain telling you what an amazing
Copy of you has appear'd on our Stage; for my
Own part, I think he must be your Bastard--
He is absolutely a Garrcik through a Glass not
not quite drawn to its focus, a little mist
hangs about his outlines, and a little fuzziness
in the tone of his voice; otherwise the very ape
of all your tricks and by G-- exceedingly sensible
humble, & diffident-- how like you then must he
be! -- but let me tell you Sir, this young man
has such an Ear for modulation & such a gift
of Throat, such a knack for slipping down boild
Tripe, that I should in some views swear it
was the great Garrick. He can throw a huskiness
