By Edmund Kean Esqr
On the Ruin of Rothsay Castle Isle of Bute
Vale, a Poet, would say more
Would tell thy beauties o'er and oer
Recount each deed of early date
Of Chiefs and Clans, that met their fate
Beneath those towers with Ivy bound
Without a stone to mark the ground
The ruin only teacheth me
Such wert thou once, such shalt thou be
A monument of Greatness past
Proud for the day & at the last
