The letter contains notations by more than one hand. Page 4 is a self-cover with a seal. The page 4 scan was rotated 90 degrees clockwise. The letter contains a watermark and a postmark. The letter is torn.

The newspapers will have apprized you of the terrible calamity which has occurred to Wallack and all connected with his Establishment by the total destruction of his Theatre by Fire. The papers state that Charles had saved part only of his Wardrobe. Poor Fellow, how sincerely I feel for him. He will think that some ill fortune is always following him.
