Description	M. Macklin writes her father from London asking that he attend her benefit. She claims that she would be the joke of both theatres, particularly Covent Garden, if he did not attend. In the post script, she updates her father on Woodward House and fellow actresses. Macklin's father is probably Charles Macklin and M. Macklin probably refers to Maria Macklin. Page 4 contains notes written by Charles Macklin regarding correspondence with his daughter. A description of the letter with notations is attached. The letter contains a watermark.

Transcription	London March 20th -73 Dr Sr My benefit being fix'd for Saturday the 17t of April I intreat the Favour of you to let me know as soon as possible whether you intend coming over, or if I shall put off my Day till you can come. But I hope nothing will prevent your coming. for every body expects you. both the Town and managers & Players & all. I am tir'd with answering People & telling them as you desir'd me that you will certainly come, & great will be the Triumph to some shou'd it prove otherwise. Besides it is too late now for me to revive ? anything, and indeed so big are the Town with Expectation of your coming that I be1ieve it wou'd be in vain now to attempt to fi11 up the gap that wou'd be made.
