My good Friend
Till this instant I did not see your kind letter - an idle ungovernable servant laid it he knew not where, by chance I found it -my life this whole winter has been a series of disorders, my health became a mere useless bauble. It was cour-ted, & coaxed, & nursed, & flattered into various curious qualities to please & win it to good habits all in vain, the more it was nursed & courted the worse it proved.
