I came up here this morning partly to beg if it wouLd not trouble you too much that you would
assure Mr. Pennington of what I supposed to be the fact that Mr. Carey has no feeling of dislike to his becoming the publisher of my poems - As Mr. Carey himself (as I understood you) expressed a desire to relinquish the publication I did not of course conceive for a moment that he would even mentally object to my putting it into the hands of some one else - I never had any explanation with you or him on the subject, but simply supposed that he did not care to bring out the book
