Dear Sir,
Yours of the 26th Oct. has safely reached
me and I sincerely sympathize with you in your disappointment; but my Partners are of opinion and I cannot but agree with them on the opinion, that
your expectation of remuneration is unreasonable. The theatre, as it is, must suffer considerable loss having gone to much expense in new scenery which is now become use1ess--had the piece been produced, it would not have been acted twice, so strongly was the public opinion pre-settled against it; and in that case you would have "had no c1aim to remuneration; for as
