Dear Madam, My daughter in Law having informed me that she was addressing a letter to you, I could not refrain from availing myself of her kind permission, and inclose, with hers, a line expressive of my deep sympathy, in your bereavement and my sense of the general grief of all, who have been enlightened & instructed by Mr. Combe's literary labors. Science, philosophy & Religion all mourn his loss; for it was the study of his life, to unite them all in the common cause of truth & philanthropy, through the influence & power of a deep searching far reaching reason. He will be remembered "Madam, & his memory honored and beloved wherever & as Long as genius, truth & fidelity to the dictates of reason & the teachings of scripture, shall be appreciated & have LnfLuence among men.
