I received your letter yesterday too late (as I was obliged to dine abroad) to 'do any thing; and not being at Hampstead, it came to me a day later than it would otherwise have done, I have lost no time, however, this morning and hope you will not be inconvenienced by this little delay. Indeed you have given me so little to do that I should have had no excuse in keeping you waiting for it.--I hope the two Glee-Songs are such as you seem'd to wish for. The first must still be in the form of a morningr~u~~ suit the dialogue that follows, and the measure is I believe a very common one for Glees.--I suppose your objection to the passage which mentions the christening feast arises from the danger of raising a ludicrous image of an armed Warrior held up to the font like a baby, I hrve therefore altered it so as to take away all':3f this being case.--I am glad to hear vou have got the Piece in
