N 7: Queen's Ptfiade Bath Monday July 4--1802
It would most unquestionably be thought very unreasonable in one to quarrel with a Bride for not writing to me within a fortnight after her marriage, and therefore I do assure you my dear Sister Harriot I have not yet begun to feel angry or surpris'd at your silence. tho you promis'd you would write so soon -Remember I shall not excuse you much longer, & don't make any -excuses to me about not having time, for if you do I shall most certainly interpret it thus -that you are not at all desirous of keeping up any correspondence with me, & that to be civil to each other when we meet is quite enough to satisfy your expectations --If I find this the case I shall feel very much mortified, & very muc~ disappointed, for on my part my dear Harriot I hope & believe that we shall not want a much longer acquaintance to love & esteem each other very very warmly. I am so well dispos'd to give you a place in my heart, that you have only to appear to wish it, & it is yours.
