HE Centenary Celebrations of Sarah Siddons which were held rather more than two years ago aroused so much interest in the life of this great actress and noble woman, that 'many people expressed a wish that this enthusiasm should be kept alive by a Fellowship of her admirers

throughout Great Britain and the Empire. 
In Sarah Siddons England possesses a splendid example of indomitable energy and perseverance. The child who carried the players' drum through country towns with the same pride as was afterwards to stir her audiences with unforgettable majesty; the dutiful daughter who went into service at her parents' bidding; the romantic but virtuous girl who became so faithful a consort; the devoted young mother whose domestic life was so cruelly over-shadowed, these have a very plain message for us today.

As has been well shown the agonies which Mrs. Siddons revealed on the stage were largely her own.
