F. Morres Gore and Catherine Gore letter to Sarah Bartley, 1819 July 18

              Chester Street July 17  My dear M~~ Bartley  Having been promised a safe conveyance  for tQis letter, I cannot deny myself the satisfaction of assuring you  and M Bartley with what intense pleasure I hear of your brilliant  success in the New World, a success which will I hope before very long  sand you home to your friends comfortable happy and independent  of Managers or their whims and uncertainties. I anticipate much  pleasure in listening to your accounts of all your transatlantic  adventures some social evening over a good fire in this little quiet  corner where we "hear the stir of the great Babel, yet not feel the  crowd," and only seek the company of real friends - You will find many changes in the Theatrical World upon your return.  There seems every probability that the great Drury Lane will be  converted into a Methodist meeting house, or a store house for oats, etc  and the haste of our wiser descendants substitute a more moderate  sized structure, where ornament and magnificance shall give place, to  the advantages of hearing and seeing, but as I think you will hear  more on these subjects from the better informed persons than myse f  t I shall give you some account of those of your private friends ab  whom I am certain you will feel interested. MrS Bringhurst (?) &  her children are perfectly well, she has purchased a house & garden  at Peterborough, and is busily occupied repairing and furnishing the  house, in which she intends'to reside, I think it a pity she should  settle so far from her connexions, but after all, if she finds her  happiness in doing so, nobody has a right to endeavour.to dissuade  her for it. Anne is now staying with her & Kitty is only in Town with  me, we talk of a trip to the seaside, but I am detained in Town  waitin8 for a Gentlemans arrival with whom I have business, and
