Lemuel C. McKeeby was born in 1825, in New York City, son of Edward McKeeby and Catharine Miller, both also from New York City. His great-grandfather was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. He moved to Milwaukee, WI and in 1850 came to California to mine. He was at French Corral and Sebastopol principally and was the first to introduce rubber hoses for hydraulic mining at Sebastopol, Nevada County. Clarke's daughter, was Mrs. Mae Ann/Mary McKeeby Bartlett. Albert Bartlett and Mae Ann wed on Jan 19th, 1882 at Ventura, California. Their children were Bessie Herbert Frankel and Florence E. Pentalpha LODGE NO. 202, Los Angeles, became a fully chartered Masonic lodge in 1869.
