Title	Rich diggings in Utah
Creator	Chandler, N. A. (1818-1880)
Description	Chandler has moved to Utah Territory in the vicinity of the Carson and Truckee Rivers. He built a stone cabin, and is boarding a family from Massachusetts at present. He writes that he “sometimes gets homesick for a while, but when I come to think that a man is not of much account [without] money, then I am more determined not to return until I can meet the expectations of the folks at home.” Notations in pencil on the first page at the top read: “Rich diggings in Utah (Nevada?) ‘My prospects better now than they ever have been’ ‘Regular 49 Times.'” Pencil marks highlight certain parts of the text pertaining to the title.
