Title	Promising outlook for paying ore at Eureka

Description	Chandler writes that he is putting all his money into a new mine. He describes Eureka and its resources. He expects to go to the World’s Fair in 1876. Chandler writes that he favors Greeley over Grant. Chandler extols the virtues of California weather and the seasons as it pertains to health, adding that in the interior of California, “people do not usually die until thier [sic] time comes.” Notations in pencil on the first page at the top read: “Promising outlook for paying ore at Eureka. Favors Greeley in the Greeley-Grant Presidential campaign. California climate.” Pencil marks highlight certain parts of the text pertaining to the title.

Transcription	Eureka June 9th, 1872 Dear Wife, I received yours of May 21st I am happy to inform you that I have received the Regalia all right. It must have had a round about way as it was marked from Canada to Missouri. It should have been sent to New York or Boston there connecting with Wells Fargo Pacific Express but it is all right now, I was glad to hear you were all well, my health has been very good since I wrote last I have not heard from Harry for a long time he does not answer my letters at all times I hear occasionally from that Gaarter and from what I hear, I infer he is not doing well with his Mill property at Silver park.
