Dear Wife  I have received 2 letters from you this week.  They found me well as usual  I was glad to hear from you that you were well   I have writen twice since I have been over  you have probably heard by the papers of Our Rich Mines in Utah they Beat Every thing yet discovered both in Silver & gold.  Some of the claims have sold as high as four thousand five hundred dollars pr ft  one man can hold 200 ft which would make quite a pile but usually those kind of claims get cut up by purchase before they get to be so very valuable.  Some who came over with me have made big fortunes  it is not strange for claims to raise twenty thousand dollars in one week  We have a great excitement here now, thousands of Californians are comeing in with mules loaded with gold to Buy silver mines which is considered safer to invest in than gold  When I have a pretty good offer for my claims I think I shall sell and leave the country.  I have several claims some of them quite valuable in prospect  they have raised in value within the last week about $5,000 if it keeps raising so for a few weeks   I shall be satisfied to leave
