Tehama House San Frisco June 28th , 1860
Dear Wife,
I hope you will not be offended at my writing you so often. I wrote by the steamer that sailed the 20th of this mo. I have been here since waiting to settle up some affairs of Trade made in Washoe stock I have been successful in part but have a large amt. still due which I shall have to wait a while for I should have come home or to see you. If I could have left my Business consistently, I may arrange it so as to leave late in summer or early Fall. I expect to leave an intrest in the Silver Mines of Washoe which will soon bring large returns without doubt I am going to Nevada today to see about selling my claims at Alpha. Calafornia Claims are not counted much compared with Washoe although mine has paid me over five hundred clear since last fall. I have an offer now and think of selling it. I shall be back here in a week or less and will write you by the next mail you will direct your letters to Virginia City, Utah as usual, as I could not come myself I thought perhaps you might like to see the Old Chaps picture so I have had one taken It does not look very well as a natural consequence probably
