Description	Chandler writes on various legal affairs pertaining to his property ownership. He writes that he is sorry to hear that Jane doesn’t “enjoy [her] breakfasts better” adding that “some mornings I am in the same way.” He adds, “I think you will be all right soon if the Boy does well and doesn’t turn to a girl…” Chandler also asks if they think the North is going to whip the South… and subject to the Black Administration” and adds, “if they do they will be fooled Mightily.” Notations in pencil on the first page at the top read: “Copperheadism.” Pencil marks highlight certain parts of the text pertaining to the title. Notations in pencil on the last page read: “Little stranger discounted” [referring to an unborn child].

Transcription	Tehama House San Francisco May 15th/61 Dear Wife, I received yours of April 9th and was glad to hear you were all so well. My health is very good now I start this evening for Virginia City I shall try and sell out sell out as soon as possible and return East I can tell better when I get thare this time. In regard to the power of Attorney you sent the Lawyers here say it is of no account and if I should have a chance to sell I might have some trouble in giving a title So I have got a deed made out for you to sign and send to me. It will be necessary to go before a Calafornia Commissioner to acknowledge it, if you are going down [illegible] you can do it thare I may not want to use it but I thought best to have it here in case I should want to sell if you have been down. I think you will be able to get done legally in Windsor or Woodstock I do not intend to sell except I can get a very good price.
